Byrd Road

Black Mountain, NC

Serves Families

Byrd Road is one of MHO’s earliest completed neighborhoods, a community of six single-family homes in Black Mountain, NC. Completed in 2012, Byrd Road represents MHO’s Self-Help Homeownership model in its original form, built entirely by the families who live in them. All six homes were built through MHO’s Self-Help Homeownership program, in which families work side by side under MHO’s guidance to construct their own homes.

Black Mountain is known for its walkable downtown, arts scene, and access to outdoor recreation in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Byrd Road brings that setting within reach for families who worked to build their own homes, one of the many ways MHO is helping bring affordable homeownership to Western North Carolina.
