Star Point is a 60-unit affordable multifamily community ideally located just off Tunnel Road, east Asheville’s primary commercial corridor, offering efficiency, 1-bed, and 2-bed units to renters earning 30% to 60% of the area median income. The site’s walkable location provides residents convenient access to nearby shopping, while eastbound and westbound bus stops within a tenth of a mile ensure strong transit connectivity. In coordination with area service providers, Star Point houses 12 units for young adults aging out of foster care. Star Point received a 9% Low Income Housing Tax Credit Award in mid-2023 and approximately $16 million in commitments in 2024. The project’s financing partners include First Citizens Bank, RBC Bank, Dogwood Health Trust, NeighborWorks America, the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency, the City of Asheville, and Buncombe County.
