JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title:  Resource Development Officer

Supervisor:  Resource Development Manager

JOB SUMMARY

The Resource Development Officer works directly with the Resource Development Manager to achieve the fundraising and marketing goals of Mountain Housing Opportunities.  This position assists in acquiring, retaining and upgrading charitable gifts from individuals, foundations, corporations and religious groups.  The Resource Development Officer also supports efforts to increase and improve the organization’s visibility and reputation and works closely with Executive Director, board of directors, staff and volunteers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Log gifts and maintain constituent records in donor database (Raiser’s Edge).
  • Draft and edit letters, proposals, reports and news releases.
  • Coordinate mailings.
  • Provide support and input for website content and monthly e-newsletters.
  • Assist with special event coordination and donor hosting (tours, luncheons, etc.).
  • Help to create other positive, personalized experiences with donors.
  • Identify and research donors and prospects.
  • Perform administrative and other duties related to fundraising and marketing as assigned.    

QUALIFICATIONS

  • College or advanced degree and 2-5 years experience in relevant field.
  • Positive attitude and enthusiasm for the mission of Mountain Housing Opportunities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to work respectfully with low-income, elderly and disabled clients as well as donors, members of the media and other community constituents.
  • Self-starter with ability to work well independently and collaboratively. 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, discretion, and diplomacy
  • Excellent written and oral communication.
  • Excellent computer skills. Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge fundraising software a plus.
  • Accuracy, attention to detail, and prompt follow-through.
  • Ability to organize and implement numerous projects simultaneously.
  • Valid NC Drivers License and dependable vehicle.
  • Excellent references in previous related work.

WORK LOCATION

MHO office, donor locations, client homes, and other locations required for performance of duties.  Occasional out-of-town travel is required.
